On July 20, Jin10 reported that the Israel Defense Forces announced on the 20th that they killed Bashar Sabat, an official of Hamas's "weapons production headquarters," in an airstrike on July 10 in the central Gaza town of Nuseirat. The Israeli military stated that Bashar Sabat was the head of the "Research and Development Department" under Hamas's weapons production division, responsible for advancing the weapons development process, with the goal of "restoring and enhancing the weapons stockpiles of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza." The Israeli military also stated in a statement on the same day that they had expanded military operations in Gaza City, targeting multiple armed strongholds and destroying tunnels and other infrastructure.
