The AI large model competition has been upgraded, with Baidu Wenxin 4.0 comparable to GPT-4.
The rapid development of AI technology has initiated a new round of large model competition.
Recently, the AI industry both domestically and internationally has been developing rapidly, and a new round of large model competition has begun. Baidu's Wenxin large model 4.0 has been officially released, and Li Yanhong stated that its overall level is comparable to GPT-4. Zhipu AI and Baichuan Intelligence have also respectively secured over 2.5 billion RMB and 300 million USD in financing. In addition, institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Alibaba DAMO Academy, and Peking University have successively released AI large models in specialized fields.
At the application level, major tech companies are launching products based on large models. Tmall Genie announced the full launch of the "Genie Large Model", Baidu's Baijiahao is internally testing the "Baijiahao AI Assistant", and the new version of Kugou Music has added features like AI intelligent image matching. Vivo has also unveiled its self-developed AI large model, which will be implemented in the next generation system.
On the international front, the EU plans to categorize AI models into three types for regulation, implementing stricter rules for the most powerful models. Apple plans to invest $1 billion annually to apply generative AI to its products. Meta has released an AI system that decodes brain activity images.
Insiders have differing views on the prospects of AI development. Some believe that 80% of jobs will be eliminated by AI in the next decade, while others argue that AI does not provide significant benefits for educating children. Overall, however, AI is rapidly permeating various fields, and its future development is worth looking forward to.
